Run the full command line on your host
Once you are logged in, you are on that OS — not a toy shell on the phone.
List files, edit configs, run scripts, start and stop services, check logs,
use git, build tools, Docker, package managers — whatever already lives on that box,
whether it is a full desktop or a Pi in a drawer.
Fix and operate without sitting at the desk
Restart a service that fell over. Pull the latest code. Check disk space. Kill a stuck process.
Tail a log while you are on the couch or in a hotel. Same admin work you would do from a laptop —
now from the Android in your pocket.
Move files between phone and host
Push a note, log, or capture up to the host; pull a config or build artifact down.
Use vw put / vw get (scp under the hood) and shared paths so the phone is a courier,
not the only hard drive that matters.
Use tools that already live on the host
AI helpers, compilers, databases, internal scripts — run them where the files and licenses already are.
API keys and heavy models stay on the machine you trust; the phone is the remote console, not a second vault of secrets.
Not just PCs — any host you own
Desk PC · laptop · home Linux box · Raspberry Pi · NAS · lab node · mesh appliance —
if it accepts your login, Rune can open the session.
Keep several sessions open (S1, S2, …) and switch without killing work.
Home LAN or “from anywhere”
On the same Wi‑Fi: go straight to the host. Away from home: put phone and host on a personal mesh
(we walk through Tailscale) so the same login works from cellular or a hotel network —
without opening your router to the whole internet. Setup guide →
Keep the session alive when you leave the app
Lock the screen, answer a call, switch tabs — Rune can keep the remote session running
with a notification (optional wakelock). Come back and pick up where you left off.
What Void Walker adds around the connection
On-device shell and packages when you need local tools · product CLI (vw) ·
multi-session · host profiles · file transfer · cockpit health · optional mosh on Linux/Pi ·
armor on the phone while you work on hostile Wi‑Fi.
The selling point is not “we invented SSH.” It is your whole setup — PCs, Pis, and the rest — from the pocket, with the deck in one app.
